Order of Visit

A Pilgrim should undertake in the following prescribed order while paying visit to Lord Jagannath

1. Standing behind Aruna Stambha one should look at the Temple Spire Nilachakra and the Flag and pay respect to them. The Stambha Pillar was brought from the partially damaged Sun Temple at Konark during 1611 AD. It is of 34 feet high with a lotus of 48 petals and other Ornamental Engravements.

2. Enter through the Lions Gate, pay respect to Pattitapavana on the right and fate Hanuman on the Left

3. Climb the 22 Baisi Pahacha. On the 3rd Stair visit Kasi Viswanath.

4. Enter the inner enclosures, keep on to left. Visit Agniswar, Sri Satya narayana (Janardan), Bata Gopal-Radha Krishna- Bata Krushna- Bala Mukunda (a cute tiny image sleeping on a banyan leaf and shipping his toe to test whether it is nectarine)- Hari Sahadev Shiva (Supervisor of Lord Jagannath's cattle wealth)- Bata Vihari Jagannath (or Bata Avakasha)- Sweta Ganesha-Kalpabata- Pancha Pandava Siva (Markandeya, Lokanath, Kapala Mochana, Nilakantha and Yameswar) and Bata Mangala- Ananta Basudeva Kuttamachandi.

5. Mukti Mandap- AdiNrusingha-Madan Mohan Jalakrida Mandap-Rohini Kunda-Ganesha (12 armed image in front of Vimala Temple south facing) -Goddess Vimala- Veni Madhaba-Sri Nanda Maharaja- Sri Ramapadapadma-Sri Sakshigopal-Bhanda Ganesh-Saraswati-Bhadrakali-Nilamadhab-Lakshmi-Navagraha-Suryanarayana-Pataleswar-Padapadma (Foot print of Sri Chaitanya)-Ekadasi Devi. Then approach the Temple through the northern Inner Gate, Climb 7 Stairs stand behind the Garuda Stambha and have a quick glimpse of the dear Lord. It is said that "Srimantakmani" is inside the pillar and that is why they embrace it to be blessed and get rid of diseases.

6. Ratnabedi-in side the Temple 4 icons are installed on a raised platform known as Ratnabedi or Mahabedi (16'x0" longX 13'.0" wide X 4'.0" high). It is believed that inside the Ratnabedi one lakh of Salagrams are kept
